The firm changed its name to KWB on January 1, 2007 after the addition of a new partner, Darren Buma. Prior to this, the firm was known as Koehli Wickenberg and was formed in 1996 by Gary Koehli and David Wickenberg. We are a boutique firm that started with 5 people in 1996, and has continued to grow to where we are today. We are located in southeast Edmonton and have chosen to remain there for the convenience of the majority of our clients. We are an approved training office for the CA School of Business (CASB) and support a number of CA students in their quest to become Chartered Accountants. We care greatly about the quality of life of our staff and our clients as evidenced by our vision statements:

The ability to pick up the phone and call a member from your team to assist in making a time sensitive decision is a very important benefit of partnership accounting. We promise to call you back the same day you call - or the next day at the very latest. We know how important and urgent some of your decisions can be.

Timelines:

Our average turn around time on preparing financial statements is one month. That means that you can expect your financial statements and tax returns ready one month from the day that you provide all of the information to us.

Our Focus

When Gary and David formed the partnership, they decided that they wanted to focus on clients who were owner-managed businesses.  As a result, they decided not to provide any audit services. 

Where audit work can be quite profitable, and is traditionally one of the primary services provided by CA firms, it was decided that there was an opportunity to focus in on the needs of non-audit clients. As a result, we have built a team of professionals whose skills and knowledge are tailored towards those needs. This has resulted in significant benefits to both the firm and you.

The intense nature of today’s audit services often requires that firms prioritize audits over other types of work.  As a small business person you may have felt that your needs were secondary to the “big” audit client.  At KWB we aren’t distracted by the audit work and can focus on the small business tax and financial planning needed by our clients.  If you want your work to receive this kind of service and priority come work with a firm that will value your business.
