13th Annual KWB Bunnock Championship Cup 2020

September is one of our favourite times of the year – not only is the weather great but it’s also when we host our Annual KWB Bunnock Championship Cup.

Throwing plastic horse ankle bones is serious business for us. So, on the morning of September 10th, our KWB team members donned their masks and grabbed their hand sanitizer to compete in our 13th annual tournament.

For those of you who haven’t heard of ‘Bunnock’, it’s a lawn-game that was originally brought to Canada by German-Russian immigrants in the early 1900’s.  The aim of the game is to toss your team’s ‘bones’ to knock down the competing teams set of guard and soldier ‘bones’. Bunnock was originally played with real horse anklebones, but modern games use plastic ones instead of the real thing. Read more about the game here.

One of the core values at KWB is teamwork.  The game of Bunnock was chosen as our team-building event because it promotes team bonding, a bit of healthy competition, and most of all, some well-deserved fun! It was a great day, and many bones were tossed. Ultimately, our 2020 Champions were Earl Ganser and Shannon Warawa.  Congratulations!

If you think you would be an excellent addition to next year’s Bunnock Championship Cup, you should consider joining the KWB team! Check out our Careers page for current opportunities or email your resume for our files.
