In support of Alberta’s economic recovery, the province has announced a Workforce Strategies Grant to provide funding of up to $1.5M per project that addresses labour and skills shortages.
This program aims to support organizations with innovative solutions to assist Albertans with developing new skills and to help employers and industry to grow their workforce. Grant funding will offer applicants the ability to implement projects that support skills, employment, and workforce development requirements.
Alberta Workforce Strategies Grant Eligibility
Eligible entities must have a minimum of two years of organizational experience related to the grant stream they are applying to.
This grant program has three streams, each having different activities and outcomes.
Stream 1: Skills Development
To support the re-skilling of unemployed Albertans by providing training and/or services resulting in new skills development and employment.
Stream 2: Regional and Employer-Focused
To support region or employer-led projects that address regional workforce challenges.
Stream 3: Industry-Focused
To support industry-led projects that address provincial workforce needs.
How to Apply for the Alberta Workforce Strategies Grant
To apply, you must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI), which will be used to evaluate the alignment between your proposed project and the goals of the grant program. Only three EOIs per organization will be considered.

- June 30, 2022 | EOI application period opens
- June 30-July 7, 2022 | Applicants can submit questions
- July 12, 2022 | Responses to submitted questions are shared online
- July 22, 2022 | EOI application period closes
- July 29, 2022 | Applicants receive notice of the result of their application with next steps
- September 9, 2022 | Deadline for submission for shortlisted EOI applicants invited to submit an application package
