Paola Matallana, CPA, CA, CIA

Paola completed her Bachelor of Commerce major in Accounting in Peru in 1999 and moved to Canada in 2002. She articled in PWC Peru and completed her pre-requisites for the CA program at NAIT. She started articling here in Alberta with Auditor General of Alberta, completed her articling with KWB LLP, and obtained her CA designation in October 2015. She obtained her CIA designation in 2021 (Certified Internal Auditor) and in the final stages to obtain her CRM (Canadian Risk Management) designation in 2024.

Paola has a very diversified career path going from Public Practice here at KWB until 2016, then into the Public Sector for her first Management role, then moved into the Financial Institution world for one of the largest Credit Unions in Canada as their Manager Accounting Operations focused on Tax and then as the Manager Corporate Audits in their Internal Audit Department. Later, she landed a role in the Heavy Equipment industry as the Manager Corporate Finance Risk & Controls and later went into the non-for-profit sector as their VP Finance & Corporate Services. In 2023 she ventured as an entrepreneur and is the founder of a local cleaning company that is managed by her sister and husband.

She is super excited to be back to KWB as a member of the KWB Management Team and to help them achieve their client and company goals.

She has her hands full with two teens at home, an adorable senior black lab, a handsome French bulldog pug, and a wonderful husband. She loves to spend time with her family and sister that recently moved to Edmonton from Peru.

Paola has served as a volunteer Board member for Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers since 2017 and currently serves as the Chair of Audit and Finance Committee since 2018.

Paola likes running, boxing, soccer and attending basketball games to see her daughter play with her team.
